First win of the season for Navenby U10’s – Navenby JFC v Colsterworth

22nd September 2013

Navenby U10’s met Colsterworth for the first time in a competitive match on Sunday still suffering with injuries. The first half was very tight with both teams still coming to terms with the new retreat line rule. The deadlock was broken with some lovely play down the right wing from Navenby with a great header finishing the move off. Colsterworth were probably feeling a little unlucky to go in at half time 1-0 down as the match had been very even.

Second Half

In the second half Navenby were down to 6 players and had resigned themselves to a tough final 30 minutes.

Colsterworth pushed for an equalising goal straight from the kick-off but were thwarted by some excellent Navenby defending, to add insult to injury Navenby then hit an Colsterworth on the counter attack to make it 2-0 they quickly followed this with a 3rd punishing Colsterworth as they pushed to get back into the game.

With 15 minutes left Colsterworth changed their team around and tried to get back into the game, but every time they pushed up the pitch Navenby looked to counter attack and eventually scored a 4th goal as more space appeared in the Colsterworth defence, Navenby started to move the ball around and looked dangerous every time they had the ball. Colsterworth had a chance late on to get a conciliation goal when they were awarded a free kick just outside the penalty area unfortunately it was not to be and summed up the day for the away team.

Hopefully Colsterworth can put the Navenby defeat behind them and concentrate on the things they did well, If they play like they did in the first half I am sure teams will find them tough to beat.

Final Score  Navenby JFC 6 – 0 Colsterworth
